Evening all,

How are you today?

So what's going on with the kingfishers?
Good question!

Well to be honest, I don't know! Which is not the most helpful statements on a blog entitled "kingfisher update"... Let me explain...

So the pair of kingfishers at the Kingfisher hide - well the young should have fledged by now, the babies usually fledge after 24-25 days, but with all this rain it seems to have put them back a bit (it's hard to fish when the surface of the water is moving - can't see the fish). We think they should be fledging any day now!

Over the last couple of days the pair have been seen doing a couple of things:
taking fish into the bank
mating
and investigating a new hole!

Very exciting! The adults are getting ready for a new brood!

We think that the pair at the Gadwall hide are incubating their second brood - do let us know what you see!
