The Rye Meads Ringing Group reported that there was a great grey shrike near Lagoon 3 (the most southerly one on the reserve) yesterday. We haven't been able to find it since, but we have people out looking! Also, a dunlin this morning. Great birds for Rye Meads!

I wasn't there so didn't see them but Lagoon 3 is as you're approaching the top of the steps (and ramp) that go down to the Ashby Hide in front, it's on your left behind the bund. There are two viewing slots in the fence at the top of the steps on the left. The far side of that lagoon is the road.
I'm guessing the dunlin was from the Tern hide. (Lagoon 1)
I was there today, no GGS or Dunlin seen :(
Pardon my ignorance but which Hides are near Lagoon3 and where was the Dunlin?
I didn't see the Fox or the Stoat either, but still had a great day, despite the freezin' weather!

Hi Joan, great news about the Great Grey Shrike. It's the 4th one I've now heard about in Herts this winter after sightings of them in Norton Green nr Stevenage, Therfield and Grean Munden which is great news for our county.
Daniel!
