Good morning!
How are you?
What a lovely day it is today! It was a stunning morning today, the reserve looked lovely covered with frost. The sun is shining so why not come out for a nice wander?
During the week we had some lovely views of ducks (there are lots of teal about), lapwing, green sandpiper, grey wagtail, 10 redpoll (in a tree near the visitor centre), watervole, buzzard and peregrine flying over!
These are mealy redpoll - also called common redpoll
The Rye Meads Ringing Group told us that there was 38 snipe, and 3 jack snipe were on the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust wet meadow. This really does show that the buffalo and Konic ponies really are doing a good job managing the meadow!
This morning we've had great views of woodpeckers!
There was a great spotted woodpecker at the feeding station, and a green woodpecker feeding on the field next to the visitor centre, so keep an eye out!
