Ooh it looks like the kingfishers have started/ have fledged!

Visitors have seen one of the adults passing fish to another kingfisher - lots of people hvae seen this today, so it sounds like the adult is feeding the baby/ babies! We're not sure if just one has fledged or if they all have and they've just hidden themselves in bushes! There is a possibility that people have been seeing the male feed the female which is part of their mating bahaviour - so if you've got any pictures from today please share them! :)

Kingfishers lay 6-7 eggs so fingers crossed all young do well!

The adults have even been seen mating - so it's looking good for a third brood!

Fingers crossed!

  • I have posted  a photo just now, which suggests that the feeding  we saw  today was courtship feeding . The receiving bird  with the fish in its beak (female) has a ring on its right leg . Am I right in thinking the newly fledged chicks wouldn't have not been ringed yet ? so this bird was an adult female?
