With the easing of covid restrictions on outdoor visitor attractions that came into force in Wales today, we are delighted to announce that the island will be reopening to the public from Sunday May 2nd

Having not seen any visitors since October 2019(!), we are very excited about meeting both old and new faces and welcoming you back to enjoy the delights that Ramsey has to offer.

As you might expect, we have needed to implement a few changes to make your ‘island experience’ covid secure, including a reduction in the number of people who can land each day. Full details are listed below:

  • Pre booking is essential – please book in advance with our contracted boat operator Thousand Islands Expeditions (no other operator is licenced to land passengers on Ramsey). Contact them on 01437 721721 or email info@thousandislands.co.uk to book a place on the boat. They will give you full instructions on car parking arrangements and the covid secure meeting arrangements at St Justinians.

  • In order to maintain social distancing on the boat, numbers are limited to 12 passengers per trip. Face masks must be worn at all times i.e. when embarking and disembarking the vessel and throughout the duration of the boat trip. This is to mitigate for occasions when a 2m distance between passenger and crew may not always be possible.

  • Boat sailing times will be the same as before i.e. 10:00 and 12:00 with two boats off in the afternoon at 15:45 and 16:00.

  • Weather permitting we will be open Sundays to Thursdays (closed Friday and Saturdays). With only two members of staff on the island this year, there will be occasional additional days we will have to close to carry out essential conservation or farming work. We will endeavour to keep these to a minimum and always give plenty of advance notice to our boat operator.

  • The introductory talk will now take place outside and not in the luxury visitor shed that many of you will have come to love!......

  • The shop will be closed so please bring all water and refreshments with you and take all rubbish off with you at the end of the day.

  • The compost toilets will be open with a few minor changes which will be communicated to you on arrival.

  • For biosecurity purposes open carrier bags are not permitted – please ensure all zips / other fasteners function properly and bags are securely closed. You will be asked to carry out a biosecurity check of your bag on the crossing.

After 546 days since our last visitor it is safe to say we are very much looking forward to it! We appreciate there are fewer landing opportunities this year and not everyone who wants to may be able to visit. To keep everyone up to date with news, we will maintain our regular blogs and are looking into the option of doing some online events for those of you, for whatever reason, are unable to visit in person.

Now what’s the weather forecast for Sunday?!......
