Yesterday saw the windiest day of the autumn so far and was up there with some of the wildest days we have experienced out here. Winds reached storm force 10 in the afternoon gusting around 80mph. Amazingly no damage was sustained by any of our buildings, testament to the people who first chose these locations to site the original structures.

The sea was spectacular as these series of photos plus a couple of videos show

Anyone who has landed on Ramsey will know this location well although maybe not looking like this!

Day visitors often stand on the harbour wall and marvel at the power of the tide running through this section known as The Axe - it certainly was today!

It probably wasn’t great if you were a seal pup but by and large the autumn has been relatively benign so overall the pups will have had a good season in that sense. Each autumn brings it’s storms so timing wise this was about as good as it could get in that the pupping season is winding down in this part of the UK and the impact would have been minimal

On the subject of grey seals we will be pulling together our figures over the next couple of weeks and will report back on final numbers of pups born this season.
