This time every year (Sept) we take down all the tree sparrow nesting boxes on the reserve and clean out the old nesting material and scrub them with boiling water. They are then left a few days to completely dry out and are all put back up on the same tree and same position they came down from. It won't be long before the tree sparrow start staking claim to their favourite box and defending it until the breeding season next year!
