The last Saturday in January saw our first Wildlife Photography Workshop. Led by Roger Crocombe ARPS and Bill Brookes of Bognor Regis Camera Club, a full complement of keen photographers, from ‘beginners to improvers’, listened enthusiastically as techniques and tips for photographing wildlife were imparted. Having taken on board the theory they went out after lunch to put their new skills into practice, before returning to share and discuss their results. Here are just a couple of shots taken on the day...
There are more images from the workshop on display in our Visitor Centre.
Our next Wildlife Photography Workshop will be on Sunday 17th April, just as our beautiful reserves burst into life at springtime. This time we will focus on macro photography and if you are interested, please note this workshop was fully booked very quickly – be sure to book early to reserve your place.
The same afternoon the Pagham Seals Wildlife Explorers Club (WEx) were on site, getting sticky making bird feeders...
Feeders made, they then set about doing their Big Garden Bird Watch...
The WEx group is open to anyone aged between 7 – 12, that is interested in wildlife. They meet on the last Saturday of every month from 2 – 4pm. For more information contact George on 07720 946132 or George.carney@tiscali.co.uk
The following day we had our Volunteers Winter Get-together. It was lovely to see so many of the team who give us so much support and hard work throughout the year.
It even got a little competitive as many took on the challenge of a ‘mini bird-race’ against the clock! Having ‘bird-raced’ everyone settled down to the much more serious subject of eating a delicious stew and socialising.
Our Volunteers help to man our Visitor Centre, carry out conservation work with the Wardens, complete surveys, work with schools and on events and so much more. If you are interested in volunteering and want to know more drop us a line www.rspb.org.uk/paghamharbour or pop by the Visitor Centre.
Our spring events programme is out very soon including another Astronomy Night (Friday 01 April), Water Vole Workshop, Dawn Chorus and our first Wildlife Artists Workshop, plus much more. Keep an eye on the website for details or pick up an events leaflet from our Visitor Centre.
And don’t forget we have family events on at Half-Term and Easter.
