Weather turned more autumnal through the week but still remained relatively mild. The stormy weather with occasional sunny interval lead to some dramatic views across the Harbour. This week was a week for the birds of Prey. Joining the regular Kestrels and Sparrowhawks was a magnificent Red Kite over Ferry Field. Around the harbour at least two Merlin have been reported terrorising the waders out in the saltmarsh, whilst Short-Eared Owls have been reported from a number of places around the Reserve. In the fair weather a number of Common Buzzards drifted across the site and amongst them a probable Rough Legged Buzzard on Wednesday.

The stormy weather has also attracted in a couple of Great Northern Divers in to the new Medmerry site, with one delighting the local birdwatchers by remaining there for the last couple of days. Also during a particularly stormy day a Little Auk was reported from the Breach

Although there is no change in the fact that a Juvenile Spoonbill and Ruddy Shelduck are frequenting the Reserve, however through the week both have found themselves a friend.
