The Hudsonian Whimbrel continued being reported up to the last week of July although has become increasingly elusive over the period, mixing with the Eurasian Whimbrel.

July is predictable a quiet month for migrant birds as many are focus their efforts in rearing they offspring. As the month progress the fledglings start become more apparent around the site as they learn the important lessons of survival. Out in the harbour a healthy gathering of terns we present at the beginning of the month in particular Sandwich, the nosy youngster continually begging for food.

On the scrapes young Moorhen and Coot squeal at there parents with some on a third brood of the year. But do not forget the bushes with many young passerines flitting around to test the most experience birder.

But July starts seeing the beginning of the return migration an a quick look on the scrapes around the sit e could reveal the start of the wader migration..Ferry Pool attrached Green and Common Sandpiper, with a Wood Sandpiper making a brief appearance on the north side of the harbour.
