The harbour at High Tide
Ferry Field continued to be good birdwatching over the month with Lapwing, Black-Tailed Godwit, Wigeon, Brent Geese and occasionally one of the Spoonbills has roosted there. Towards the end of the month there were exceptionally large tides that moved many of the birds out of the harbour and on to the shingle ridges to roost. Many waders such as Dunlin, Knot and Grey Plover will wile away the hours while the mud is cover. In the harbour the flock of Avocet has been continuing to grow and by the end of the month 55 birds were present down the west side, one of the biggest flocks recorded at Pagham.

The warming weather has brought out the Buzzards with up to 6 in air at once usually observed down over the West Fields.

The large tides have also revealed a couple of less common species a Ruff was observed with a roost of Redshank and a Jack Snipe was flushed along the Long Pool Path
