Work started yesterday (20/11/17) on replacing Ferry Hide and upgrading our Discovery Area. Contractors have already removed the old hide and started to mark out the site for groundworks.
Now you see it…
When completed, the new Ferry viewing facility should look something like this…
And from the back…
We will be expanding the Discovery Area, increasing the mix of habitats available to the public, schools and activities. The lower pond will be enlarged and a shelter erected close by. A new all-access path will take you from the Visitor Centre past the new pond to the new ferry viewing area, Two dog friendly paths will be created around the Discovery Area – one of which will lead from the Visitor Centre car park and over the top of the tip to the harbours edge, opening up a whole new vista to experience. This is the basic layout...
And the activity shelter will look similar to this...
As a consequence of the works the path from the Visitor Centre car park to the Ferry Hide is closed. Ferry Channel, West Side and Church Norton can all still be accessed from the Visitor Centre via the path that leads to the harbours edge and 'Tramway'. We hope to complete all the works by spring 2018.
