A few hobby have been around Ouse Fen since the third week of April, but the numbers are increasing now so its worth going to take a look. The don't seem to be getting very low to the ground at the moment, but maybe I'm visiting at the wrong time of day?! Up until recently the biggest insects available as a food source would have been damselflies, but the first dragonflies are now emerging, and that might bring them a bit lower over the reedbeds too.
Photo taken on the bridleway from Brownshill Staunch to Earith, not on the path across Cuckoo Fen (which remains closed due to the Coronavirus lockdown).
