Lots of Hobbys over Ouse Fen yesterday; I must have been seen 8-10 different birds from just one viewpoint, so perhaps there might have been 30 or so over the areas of the site to the East of the river?
I actually went to Ouse Fen looking for Marsh Harriers and Bitterns; I got very few sightings of the former, and none of the latter though once the sun came out some booming was evident. No tern either - so the whole site seemed pretty quiet apart from large numbers of gulls. Luckily, the Hobbys (Hobbies?) made the day, though even they seemed to wait for the sun (and presumably the insects) to come out before appearing in force.
