Good afternoon. My name is David White and some of you may know me as the Visitor Experience Officer at RSPB Lakenheath Fen over the border in Suffolk. You may have also heard me on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire Wildlife Wednesdays with Jeremy Sallis, which I tend to appear on as a guest approximately once a month to promote the work of the RSPB in the local area and to answer listeners questions about our feathered friends.
My last appearance on the show was on Wednesday 14 December with Matt York, the RSPB Ouse Fen Project Manager. Matt told listeners about the reserve while I answered questions about the birdlife of Cambridgeshire and further afield.
I will actually be appearing on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire Wildlife Wednesdays this coming Wednesday (8 February) at 2pm with my colleague Luke Wake, the Assistant Warden at nearby RSPB Fen Drayton Lakes. We will be taking about Fen Drayton Lakes and also answering listeners questions about birds and wildlife. Please do listen in if you have the chance and if you have any burning questions about the wildlife of the Ouse Valley, please do ring in to the show!
Anyhow, the reason why I am writing on the Ouse Fen community pages is that the other half of my role is RSPB Communications Officer for Cambridgeshire & the Fens. One of my main duties within this role is to promote the Hanson RSPB Wetland Project at RSPB Ouse Fen. I am therefore writing to let you know about a couple of things that you may be interested in:
Firstly, you may have seen recently that there is an article about RSPB Ouse Fen in the latest edition of RSPB Nature's Home magazine. It provides an excellent update about the reserve and showcases the wildlife successes of the reserve. If you haven't read it yet, an electronic version of it can be found here.
Secondly, there are a couple of guided walks planned for the reserve in the next couple of months. They will take place on 4 March and 25 March respectively. Please follow this link for more information about how to book your places on these walks.
I will leave you with a couple of pictures...
One is a recent mugshot of yours truly, just in case you see me round the place over the next couple of months:

We hope to see you on the reserve soon!
Hi- I'd love to visit but can't find the place as the link to Google from the RSPB reserve page won't open
