Earlier this year I was contacted by a very nice gentleman who wished to put a plaque on a bench in the woods in memory of his wife who had passed away last year. The bench he was proposing to place it on has a special place in his family and has many fond  memories for them and their Grandchildren.

RSPB Warden Will Tofts said "We are very happy to help the Meredith family place the plaque in memory of Liz Meredith at this special family place in the wood. The money kindly donated by them will be very useful in maintaining the bench.

Mike wanted to give a little background to his late wifes' background so here are his words:-

Liz was known to many locally as a mother who lived in the village for 38 years, as a Teacher in Hoo and more recently in High Halstow under the Headship of Rod Helps. She was an active member of St Margaret’s Church as a Reader, Bell Ringer, Chorister, and PCC Member. In 2009 she set up the Kings Kitchen which still offers a “Cuppa & a Natter” every Tuesday morning and has been an important asset in the village. After a very short illness she died in January 2018 and her Memorial service had the largest congregation seen in living memory.

The North Kent Marshes are a very special area and worth preserving at all cost.
