It’s been a lovely couple of days at Northward Hill RSPB in the Summer sun, although yesterday was a bit too hot for tackling ‘The Norad’ as it is known locally, but in the end it was well worth it.
Last Friday Purple Emperors were showing well deep into the wood by the double bench just as the pathway plateaus.
None on Sunday unfortunately, Purple Hairstreak and White-letter Hairstreak were showing well and low down on the Oaks making up for it.
A beautiful Silver-washed Fritillary flew its' distinctive flight up and down the glade.
As I made my way back down in the rising heat, a Silver-washed Fritillary ‘Valezina’ sat on a low bramble, but was too quick for me to get a photo.
Then back to the office for a very welcome cold drink.
I'll post some photos later.
