This weekend the RSPB Mull of Galloway has celebrated the International Lighthouse Heritage Weekend in conjunction with the Mull of Galloway Community Trust. Numerous talks have taken place in the RSPB visitor centre ranging from U-boats and shipping losses along the Wigtownshire Coast during WW1 to the ‘Life and Death on Little Ross’. These talks have been thoroughly enjoyed by many and we would like to thank the speakers for all of their hard work.

At 2pm today, a new sign for the Mull of Galloway Community Trust was unveiled at the entrance of the reserve. The Community Trust bought the land in July 2013 and they offer an exhibition on the Mull of Galloway and lighthouses, trips to the top of the lighthouse for amazing views of the area and also rent the lighthouse keepers cottages as holiday lets. The RSPB have been managing the land since the 1970’s so in 2013 we were pleased to begin working alongside the community trust to continue protecting the reserve for all of our amazing wildlife.
