At the heronry, feeders and bridleway
Young Grey Herons are still being heard calling for food and a few adults have seen flying off. Great Spotted Woodpecker, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Jay and the usual tits have been seen around the feeders.
Blackbirds, Dunnock, Chaffinch, Song Thrush, Robin, Wren are calling now that the warblers are singing less. The occasional Blackcap, Chiffchaff and Cuckoo have been heard.
Around the wetlands
Recent highlights, our surveyors have told us about are: Black-necked Grebe, Common Scoter, Grey Plover, Mediterranean Gull, Black-tailed Godwit and Turnstone (here for a few days).
Wetland birds with young: Black-headed Gulls, Canada Goose, Coot, Gadwall, Greylag Goose, Lapwing, Mallard, Moorhen, Mute Swan, Oystercatcher, Shoveler.
Cetti's Warbler, Garden Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat (along the brook to the river at Fishers Mill), Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Skylark, Whitethroat, Willow Warbler have been heard, occasionally.
Others seen: Bullfinch, Buzzard, Dunlin, Goldcrest, Green Sandpiper, Green Woodpecker, Herring Gull, Hobby, House Martin, Kestrel, Kingfisher, Grey Heron, Little Ringed Plover, Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail, Pochard, Redshank, Ringed Plover, Shelduck, Swallow, Swift, Teal, Common Tern, Wigeon, Yellow Wagtail.
