It’s been fantastic walking round and seeing the rewards of all the work that has been done round the reserve; the islands on the Wetlands providing a haven for many breeding birds, the highlight being the avocets. I know this picture is out of date now but it was lovely to see the avocet parents with the four chicks. The chicks are still going strong and are quite big now.

The bund that was put in by the Environmental Agency is looking as though it has always been there.

The amazing range of flowers is providing a floral feast for a range of mini beasts, from a variety of different species of bees,

Whilst walking back through the Woodland Walk to the office I saw this squirrel. He was just sitting there, enjoying the sunshine. I did wonder who was watching who.
It was very exciting a couple of weeks ago when the bird ringers on the reserve caught a kingfisher, we all rushed out to have a look.

The colours are amazing. I have to say that the kingfisher was smaller than I expected, with the bill making it look bigger when you see it in flight.
We see quite a few mallard chicks near the office but were visited by these swans and cygnets the other day.
The reserve is just lovely to walk round whatever your interest, whether it be birds, bees, flowers, etc.
