First of all a Happy New Year to you all. I hope Christmas brought you all you wished for and that a good time was had by all.
Good news: completion of the new drive won't be long. They’re doing an amazing job despite the really wet weather we’re having.

It might be nice to have warm winter weather but I really don’t like all the rain it brings with it, I would much prefer some nice cold sunny days. We were lucky yesterday having a day without any rain as it was the first work party of the new year. We had a really good day clearing scrub and canal meadow was cleared of all the dead wild flowers.
This view across the silt pool really reflects the dull, damp days we've been having.
This hasn’t stopped our visitors coming to see the little egrets, with over 40 coming to roost in the heronry over night. In the mornings they can sometimes be seen in groups in the farmer's field to the right of the bridle path. Kate's blog shows that we're still getting birds drop in for a rest; it really is a matter of luck of being in the right place at the right time to see these birds and I've not been one of them!!!!
The bluebell shoots are showing in the woodland, is Spring on its way?
Dull, damp days we may be having but it's still worth a visit.
