The land where ancient man once walked has been unearthed during the Lifeline for Lapwings project, generously funded by Viridor Credits Environmental Company.
The RSPB project team are really pleased with the new look of the area, which will be a haven for lapwings, waders and mammals.
We are really seeing the reserve changing. You can now visualise how this part of the Tame Valley will become a mix of pools, meadows and shallow feeding areas.
The transformation of the landscape alongside the River Tame is simply amazing.
It’s just one piece of a conservation jigsaw being fitted together from Birmingham to the Humber by landowners, the wildlife trusts, RSPB and government agencies like the Environment Agency.
And we are confident that the Middleton work will be finished this Spring ready for the lapwings and our grazing livestock to take a look at their new home.
A big thanks to Viridor Credits Environmental Company for stepping up for nature and every one of you supporting the RSPB. We can only do more with you – you’re brilliant!!

So many visitors have been telling us about how they are looking forward to the habitat changes to be made this year at Middleton Lakes. It's certainly 'love 2013'.
I can't wait to see the end of all the landscaping.I hope we attract lots of lapwings and other birds.I would also like to see the bridge,crossing over to Dosthill Lakes in place.As you might guess,i live in Dosthill!it will be great to walk across the bridge over to Midd.Lakes reserve.
