Welcome to the RSPB Mersehead Moorhens Wildlife Explorers Feb-June 2014 programme!

 

  • All meetings take place at RSPB Mersehead reserve, meeting in the Sulwath centre from 10.30 am – 12.30 pm on the 1st Sunday of each month unless otherwise stated. Please aim to arrive for 10.20 am for a 10.30 start.

 

  • We aim to get outside at all meetings so please wear suitable clothing – warm/waterproof, wellies/walking boots. When it’s hot, please come with sun block applied and bring a hat. Long sleeves/trousers and insect repellent might be useful!

 

  • Cost £1 to cover costs.

 

  • Most suitable for children aged 8 – 12. Under 8’s welcome but should be accompanied by an adult.

Penguin Party!

This month we are going to be focussing on penguins learning all about them. With crafts using recycled materials, Name that Penguin! and the Penguin Shuffle – not to be missed!

Going Global

We will be raising awareness of global issues and learning about the rain forest. We will also be doing a treasure hunt.

Butterflies, Butterflies

Can you match the butterfly to the caterpillar? Want to know more about butterflies and make your own butterfly headdress? Then come along to our April meeting.

It’s a bugs life!

This month we will be getting out and about and going pond dipping with underwater viewers that we will make ourselves.

A trip to the beach – to be shore!

For our last meeting before the summer break we will be going down to the beach to investigate the shoreline, make sand sculptures and do some litter picking along the way.
