Well winter is upon us and the wintering wildfowl and geese are back on the reserve. We have had sightings of a red breasted goose this afternoon and the barnacle geese have started to arrive with 200 on the reserve. Below are the recent sightings from around the reserve
Visitor centre- blue tit, chaffinch, goldfinch, great tit, robin, teal, mallard, sparrowhawk, great spotted woodpecker, meadow pipit, starling and yellowhammer
Beach- wheatear, spotted flycatcher, whitethroat, oystercatcher, cormorant, black-tailed godwit and curlew
Meida Hide- kingfisher, kestrel, linnet, peregrine, barnacle goose, wheatear, lapwing, curlew, dunnock, scaup, wigeon, snipe, teal, buzzard, goldcrest, canada goose, little grebe and red breasted goose
Bruaich hide- curlew, mallard, snipe, pink footed goose, greylag goose, gadwall, shoveler, teal, wigeon, pintail and little grebe
Mammals- badger, roe deer and fox
