Happy New Year to everybody and what a start to the New Year it has been. We have already been flooded out by the tide which has caused damage to our sand dunes (picture below) but there are plenty of birds around enjoying all the water on the wetlands. The Highlights that have been seen recently have included a green winged teal, goldeneye and marsh harrier, below are the rest of the recent sightings

Visitor Centre- chaffinch, greenfinch, tree sparrow, blackbird, coal tit, blue tit, great tit, house sparrow, barnacle geese, teal, mallard, yellowhammer, magpie, robin

Meida Hide- little grebe, great spotted woodpecker, hen harrier, teal, mallard, wigeon, shoveler

Bruaich hide- pink footed geese, ruff, goldeneye, shelduck, pintail, reed bunting, siskin, lapwing, curlew, stonechat, gadwall, water rail, goosander

Trails- goldcrest, blackcap, peregrine, kestrel, greenshank, treecreeper, bullfinch, red breasted merganser, barn owl

Beach- ringed plover, marsh harrier, peregrine, grey plover, dunlin
