A little migration action at Marshside yesterday; 3 Chiffchafs, 1 Willow Warbler, 6 Wheatear, 2 White Wagtails , 5 Sand Martins, 2 Swallows and 2 House Martins. A male Merlin blasted over Rimmer's marsh late afternoon and 96 Avocets and 12 Ruff fed, rested, displayed & squabbled there. 2050 Golden Plover were in the area (1800 Crossens outer & 250 Rimmer's) - a Peregrine upset most of them

Today, 7 Wheatears and 6 Chiffchafs along with a singing Song Thrush suggest that spring IS on the way. Also 21 Sand Martins, 2 White Wagtails and a male Garganey.   91 Avocets  and 430 Black-tailed Godwits were present along with the usual Merlins, Peregrine and Kestrels. 60 House Sparrows  were around the sea-wall where Lesser Celandine is in flower and Peacock & Small Tortoiseshell butterflies on the wing.

Around the golf course were 2 Red Legged Partridge, 3 Great-spotted Woodpeckers, and a small flock of Long-tailed Tits.
