Superb bit of birding from the sand works yesterday afternoon at high tide; 26 Gannets, 8 Sandwich Terns, 17 Common Terns, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Grey Seal, 6 Sand Martins, 90 Swallows, 30 Swifts, c.1400 Dunlin & an adult Lanner Falcon! I guess the Lanner is an escapee - it was sitting on a hummock on the edge of the saltmarsh, look out for it. The warden didn't see any other birders looking over the tide , a real shame folk are missing out!
Another big tide today with a strong wind behind, and the marshes are beginning to show the effect of yesterday's downpour - get out there!
