Apart from a small puddle and Rainford's Lagoon the reserve is waterless.

Most of the Black-tailed Godwit flock seems to have moved to Martin Mere leaving 5 behind with  a male and 2 female Wigeon and a handful of Redshank, Tufted Duck, loads of Black-headed Gulls including one juvenile and 2 Avocets with one near-fledged youngster.

However, a near empty reserve can still surprise - a leucistic female Red-crested Pochard was on Rainford's lagoon this morning.

BUT - right now its raining at the other end of Southport - only a slight shower - hardly wet the ground.  There isn't much rain forecast until well into next week.
