What a fabulous winter we have had here at Marazion Marsh. Our little band of volunteers just keeps on expanding and we are completing more work now than ever before. Conditions on the marsh can be very gruelling and many volunteers just can’t keep pace but our team is gutsy and digs in deep, often up to the waist in mud to get the job done. They have made a huge contribution to improving the condition of the reedbed this year and this has been embraced by our star attraction, the five bittern over wintering here. We can only hope that it might encourage the bitterns to stay on and nest this summer, fingers crossed. As the winter work ends and we start to look forward to the summer I would like to send a massive thank you to all the reserve volunteers for their sterling work so far – well done everybody!
