Some of the flooding has gone down at last!
The track is passable with care, although there is still a deep, wide puddle-come-pothole at the corner by the end of the Tower Pool hide track. The boardwalk to Fen hide is also under water, but passable if you're wearing wellies. There are lots of good birds around - our year list is up to 72, with bearded tit, Slavonian grebe, red-necked grebe, smew, woodcock, purple sandpiper and long-tailed duck being recent additions. The Lagoon and Plantation may be worth a visit. If you do see anything interesting, please let us know for the reserve records - Strathbeg@rspb.org.uk
The Big Garden Birdwatch is coming up at the end of the month - there's still time to sign up and get your free pack. Visit the RSPB website to register.
Sanderling (Andy Hay, rspb-images.com) - there was a flock of over 20 of these on the beach at the north end of the reserve in a lull between the spells of wild weather!
