Sunday was our annual Goose Fest. It was a great day, very well attended despite the bad weather (it was snowing at home when I left to come in to work!), over 150 people enjoyed a range of events from optics, pond dipping, guided walks, craft activites for children and a much appreciated burger stall from our local farm shop. Ralf our resident eagle got into the spirit of the day and rather than just sitting out on the low ground looking menacing he decided to scare the living daylights out of all the geese and spent the afternoon criss crossing the low ground.
There was no further sign of yesterdays white rumped sandpiper nor despite the winds of the last couple of days was much moving off shore so the reserves year list is currently stuck at 197! Last year we got to 199 by the end of October but never managed to get the last one we needed to break 200 so heres hoping that we manage to do it this year!
