Back in action again after a week away in Poland things have quietened down slightly here.

With the Yellowlegs now hopefully on its way back to a normal life there is a return to more traditional species the reserve.

1 Little Ringed Plover was here at the beginning of the week and summer plaged Ruff (which I haven't seen yet!) have also been around.

The Cuckoo that was here on Sunday hasn't been heard of since. An Osprey have been seen a bit more reguarly on the Low Ground.

The Marsh Harrier female has been seen reguarly over the reedbeds as well.

This morning though I found a tern on the pools which I would have been fine calling a Roseate Tern as it had an all black beak, red legs, paler than the Common Terns...until I saw it flap its wings and it had a underwing pattern of a Common Tern. The jury is still out on what it was.

Another odd find today was a lone Barnacle Goose which started in the middle of the Low Ground and worked its way on to the pools by the end of the day.

Here are the weeks birds in a list: Osprey, Little Ringed Plover 1, Ruff, Cuckoo, Common Tern, Marsh Harrier 1, Tree Sparrow, Shelduck families, Barnacle Goose 1, Black-headed Gulls with chicks.
