Wellety-wellingtons, how the time does fly by. It seems just yesterday that I first arrived here, fresh faced and fancy free. And now I’m off again, back to London to start a real job. Feeling a little less loquacious than normal (and Vicky says I’m nothing if not veritably, volubly verbose), here are some statistics from my time here which are mostly true.

Since I have been here I have:

  • Seen 117 species of bird
  • Seen 22 species of bird that I had never seen before
  • Made 720 cups of tea and coffee
  • Planted 400 trees
  • Worn out three pairs of wellies
  • Dumped 25 litres of marshy liquid from said wellies
  • Taken 2000 photos
  • Taken 20 good photos
  • Written 10 blog posts
  • Shifted 3 tonnes of hardcore type 1
  • Erected four thousand million miles of fencing
  • Successfully filmed the stoat once
  • Failed to film the stoat on eight separate occasions
  • Read 20 novels
  • Trodden on one Kindle
  • Consumed my own weight in haggis
  • Built half a bench from scrap wood (Iain did the other half)
  • Filled 250 bird feeders
  • Said ‘it’s raining again’ 175 times

So with all this said and done (and much more besides) there’s nothing more to do but thank the fantastic staff here for a wonderful, if slightly wet, winter, and wish everyone all the very best for the future.

A fond farewell,

Andrew
