Despite the forecast we've had a beautiful sunny day here at Strathbeg. Emma and the volunteers have taken the opportunity to do a couple of surveys while it's not pouring with rain, I've spent much of the day raptor hunting at the south end of the loch.

Both White Tailed Eagles have been around today, mostly in the dunes just to the right of this picture. Despite being huge birds, the dune area is rough and undulating and when they sit still it's very easy for them to disappear for a couple of hours. However several people have been lucky enough to see them today- and f you're the visitor who we heard got some great photos, could you email us a copy because we'd love to see them!

Along with the Eagles, the Osprey was back again today and after checking a few photos we think it's probably the same bird that was on the reserve this time last year, so clearly a regular visitor!

If the weather turns tomorrow and you don't fancy being out in the rain then our live camera showing the Troup Head gannet colony is now up and running at the Macduff Marine Aquarium and RSPB members get in free on Tuesdays.
