The attitude of people is beyond me at times. Following a spate of petty thefts a number of years ago we chnaged the opening hours of the visitor centre. That seemed to solve the problem and we have been theft free for several years. Not any more - yesterday afternoon someone walked out with our coffee machine! I can only assume that it was taken for the small amount of money that may have been in it as all the supplies were left!
If anyone is intending to visit the reserve in the next few days please bring your own coffee as temporarily we are unable to provide any in the centre. We will rectify this as soon as is possible and once we have worked out how to prevent the next one from walking as well.
On the bird front it has been a bit quiet over the last couple of days but this probably has as much to do with there being fewer visitors around than anything else, Ralf is still showing well most days.
A more positive sign is the fact that the water levels are slowely dropping across the reserve - we might have some wader habitat by the time the breeding season starts.
Anyway moan over will catch up on boring grazing lets etc before trying to get out and about!

Unbelievable! it's not as if it was a small thing that could be stuck in a pocket.... going to need to find a way to bolt the next one down - a bike lock springs to mind.
