Well after a week of solid meetings I have finally been able to get out and about today - and it was certainly well worth it!

Yesterdays "new" white tailed eagle re-appeared. Despite watching it for several minutes we were not able to read the letter on the turquoise tag. The local buzzards took great exception to it and at one stage the eagle was being mobbed by three of them - it is remarkable how small they looked. This bird was my third different eagle on the reserve in 2010!

Elsewhere birds continue to trickle in - with both green sandpiper and common whitethroat making an appearence this morning (compared with 13th May and 6th May respectively last year).

The big news though is our first lapwing nests! Following the rain and cold everything is late this year but today we found our first nest!
