Good morning from a blustery Loch of Strathbeg,
Just a quick post today to introduce the two newest (kind of!) members of our team...
Firstly, Ed Grace is our new Assistant Warden. Ed has been volunteering at Strathbeg, 3-6 days a week for a couple years now. As a volunteer, he has been involved in estate management, surveying, people engagement and membership recruitment. With Emma, the previous Assistant Warden moving to St Aidens, Ed managed to secure the job at the beginning of January. He is the go-to-guy for anything and everything on the reserve and everyone is pleased to have him on the team - officially!

Our second new start is Amy Telford, our Community Ranger. Amy studied Tropical Environmental Science, followed by Ecology and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Aberdeen. Amy has previously been a residential volunteer at RSPB Loch of Kinnordy and worked as a People Engagement Assistant in our Aberdeen office last summer. She is here on a one-year Natural Communities Traineeship with The Conservation Volunteers (formerly BTCV). Over the year, Amy is hoping to create better links with the local communities around Loch of Strathbeg, raise awareness of the reserve, recruit volunteers and will be doing research into the new visitor’s centre that is undergoing planning on the reserve.
