The ospreys seem to be very obliging already this year, and are frequently being seen. We spotted one on the pole across from the hides this afternoon, and realised it has a darvic (plastic ring) on the left leg. Unfortunately it was too distant for me to read the letters, but if any of you is able to read it would be great to know.
Apart from the osprey everything seems a bit quiet - I think mainly because there are so few black headed gulls around. There's still a pair of redshank about in front of Gullery hide though, and water rail calling. I saw a couple of pair of Gadwall too and several shoveler.
The first swallow was spotted today, and chiffchaff heard. Signs of winter are lingering though...three whooper swans which still haven't headed north.
Thanks for this, it was the fuse that sent me up on Sunday. The only miss I had was the Water rail and we need not go into that!! Keep up the good work more and more people will use this, its a great help.
For viewing or photography right place right time is everything. I'd rather be in the right place with poor kit than have the best kit and be in the wrong place.
