No sign of the cranes since Monday, but they may be back.
There were 28 black tailed godwits around yesterday, and I saw one still around this morning.
The black headed gull numbers have increased again - there were around 130 on site this morning, and definite nesting behaviour. Just in the background there was an otter feeding as well.
Still a small group of 7 whooper swans at the west end feeding in the marsh, and that is where the gadwall seem to be hiding (nesting) too. Still plenty of shoveler around which is good to see.
A beautiful pair of bullfinch seem to be hanging about near to Gullery hide to the west.
Looks like I was just in time to catch the cranes when I visited on Monday then! Fingers crossed the black-headed gulls do well this year, they are great fun to watch, even if they can be a bit mean to the other birds at times!
