Pink-footed geese are here in full force and are are brilliant sight at sunset. We've also had groups of whooper swans by the Carden hide on the wetlands.

Also on the flood we've has plenty of pochards, teal, wigeons, pintails, tufted ducks, goosanders, golden eyes, mallards and gadwalls. Thirty curlews were seen yesterday along with lots of herons.

A waterail and a few snipes have also been spotted. Peregrines have been flying overhead.

By the Gillman hide we've had charms of goldfinches, flocks of linnets and a kingfisher. The elderberries and brambles are big and ripe and the red rowan berries are waiting for a flock of winter thrush.

Up in the woodland we've had flocks of up to twenty long-tailed tits, reed buntings and redwings. Robins have been singing and ticking, and tree sparrows have been feeding just outside of the cafe.

Common darters have been sunning themselves in the picnic area and red squirrels and woodpeckers are being seen daily.
