I hope that you have had a great Christmas period and new year! Today the new year has started well with fantastic sightings of the two sea eagle(wing tag H and X), they were preying on a bird this morning and soaring over St Serfs Island. Away from the sea eagles there are plenty of tufted ducks, pochard, teal, goldeneye, mallard, a few pintail and a couple of shoveler. There is a single red-head (female) smew in the bay with a flock of teal. Towards the end of the day three roe deer appeared on the reserve, grazing in the setting sun. Our feeders are full of activity today with regular parties of long tailed tits feeding on our fat balls Hopefully the sea eagles will stay for some time to come! The last weekend of this month is the Big Garden Birdwatch, so check the rest of the website for more information on how you can get involved, there is also a ringing demonstration on Saturday the 28th of January(more information on this web site)- where myself and many other ringers will be there.
