A unique and intimate free folk evening will take place at the reserve this Saturday 16th July at 7pm! Acclaimed contemporary folk singer/songwriter Kate Doubleday will be performing this one-off concert at the reserve, in amongst the birds and wildlife of Loch Leven as she sets up in the picturesque Gillman hide overlooking the loch.
Dubbed the Hide-away National Tour, Kate and her band, will be performing at RSPB nature reserves all across the country, kicking off at Ynis-hir reserve in Wales. The concert at Vane Farm is one of just three appearances scheduled for Scotland.
Kate’s observation of nature and its fragility is reflected in the emotive and vulnerable quality that she brings to bear in her songs. Her intimacy with nature is beautifully demonstrated in her new work which is sensitively evolved by the enormous talents of her band.
Folk Magazine said “Kate’s music is so original as to defy categorisation –‘world music’ that stretched from the heart of England to South Africa, taking in countries such as Ireland and Bulgaria on the way, might begin to describe it.”
Far from the crowded fields of festival season, this performance will offer a unique opportunity to experience Kate’s music in an intimate and natural setting. The acoustic set will include a range of material with an emphasis on her newest work.
We hope to see you there at 7pm! If you’d like to attend the event, just turn up on the night. No tickets or booking required.
