I'm sorry to have to share the bad news that our cafe closure is going to be longer than we first thought. We now aim to reopen the cafe and the viewing area fully for the last weekend of the month. I know, I know, we're just as disappointed as you are bound to be, especially Dougie who is keen to get into his new kitchen and get cooking again!

The good news is that we can really start to see the cafe coming together. The new flooring is going down in the cafe, landing and stairs this week and new kitchen equipment seems to be arriving daily. Next week will see the walls painted, and finally, after all the work that's gone on we're going to need to get scrubbing before we can even think about making food up there!

Downstairs, Ali & his team are working quickly to dismantle the old shop - all the units are out, the carpets have been ripped up and today they knocked out a part of the wall to get to a window that had previously been bricked up. Electrical work has started too, moving wires to reach the new till points etc. Meanwhile, Colin, Elaine & Vix have managed to squeeze everything from their shop into the education room, and even made it look good too! There is 20% off big bags of bird food at the moment too, so why not come down and see how the works are coming along?

Out on the reserve, signs of spring continue to appear and today a visitor reported watching a pair of peregrines displaying above the crags. Despite the works, we have been busy with lots of families enjoying the mild weather and getting out onto the reserve. If you're looking for something to do this weekend, don't forget to book your place on our nestbox event on Saturday, just remember to pack your sandwiches!
