Weekly Chat, Sunday February 14, 2010

Oh my, another week.   How many rosettes did Tweed win at the agility contest? Check Patriciat's late post on last week's blog to find out!  Congratulations Tweed and Patriciat!

  • Hi Margobird.   The bit of snow we had didn't amount to much, so I'm glad we didn't have your hail!  I've been enjoying looking at the clips on the link given by Diane, too, so thanks very much, Diane, we did enjoy them- as margobird said, we usually only see still pics of them so it's a treat.  Don't know much about the different types of DVD either, except they are not compatible without special equipment, so won't be buying any  :- (

  • Alan:    Happy to hear that all is OK for the Thunderdog.  You certainly are brave to go on a mission to the shops on a Friday when all the children are out of school!   What amazes me is how their mothers give in to them & buy them sweets to keep them quiet.  (being a Grumpy Old Woman now, but no apologies for that!)

  • Alicat : Further to the above. I tried to access the owl cam on Internet Explorer and it worked ok but I still cant access it on my AOL browser.

  • Zurich peregrine makes another appearance:

  • Thanks Alan this makes up for not having Sassy now.  From the chat on the site it seems as thought Phoebe is either building a new nest nearby or repairing an old one.  Once she settles down the cam will be moved.

  • Hi Alan, thanks i can now get into the owl site ok,it was maybe because they were still moving it when i tried  to access the site,

  • Thanks for that info, margobird.    I watched the little hummer the other day & thought she looked very poorly. Let's hope that Phoebe can try again.

Welcome back already, TerryM!  You were only gone a while- we'd hardly missed you!  Glad you got your computer fixed so easily. Now you're ready for the ospreys return.  Can't believe your OH doesn't like chocolate - are you sure he's not from another planet....

Thanks to auntie for the cute dog & cat picture. Keep yourself warm, auntie, it will soon be spring again.

dibnlib:   Buzz fetches stones in the absence of anything which looks like a stick or branch. He digs them out of the ground, and has broken one of his front teeth on one. Dogs are a bit single minded sometimes (sigh)

Sorry you had a disappointment with your blind, OG it's so annoying when you think you've made the right choice & it's not how you thought it would be.  Its certainly nerve wracking picking something out in the first place, knowing that you can't take it back if its wrong.

AQ:   Those flights back & from Aus. sound very arduous.  I'd need another holiday to get over it.

Went to see "The Princess & The Frog" yesterday, it was a lot of fun, especially in a cinema full of littlies. We decided it was a copy of Jungle Book (which is a great film), as it has lots of songs & plenty of action, but I wonder if the actual story is not a bit too complicated for the very young to understand.  One child behind me asked to 'go home' long before the end, and its not a long film.

Off now to the hairdressers, & a busy day tomorrow, so Take Care All,  'Bye.

  • Morning all: Gray with rain starting this afternoon, but still warmish.

Diane: Hop a plane !  But yes, with "foreign" DVDs there's that whole Region business (apparently a problem with a gift that Obama gave Brown) unless you have a region-free player which we still have to buy to watch UK DVDs.  Thanks for those links. Will check out when I'm done rabbiting on here.

Alan: Couldn't ID the new hummer cam at first glance- do you know where it is?

OG: Do you make your own pastry for the pie or buy the ready-made stuff (or shouldn't I ask) !  I'm not exactly the best cook in the world and would rather be pulling weeds than chopping veggies.  Can you buy ready made shades that would work?  What a bother.

Chloe: Nice to see you.  Are you a white-knuckle flyer?  I used to get physically ill before flying,; now I just grin and bear it.

Lindybird: If you get on the plane today, it'll be the couch.  I'll have to check when the "Legend" film was made.

Alan: Glad Hamish is coming along nicely; Sundays is worst day for shopping here, but all bets are off with the local college and uni are starting classes. THey you get lots of young adults and their roommates having discussions in the aisles about what to buy.

Off for final sign-off from daughter's doc today; gotta get going. take care all.

  • Just been looking on Phoebe's site and bless her she has already started either repairing or building a new nest already.  I did actually see her on the nest and wondered if she was looking for Sassy.
