We have another female just landed on Monty's nest. Every time I do a morning post saying how handsome Monty is, a new female turns up! Are they watching Facebook?

This one is ringed though, on the left leg with a Darvic (coloured) ring. Blue FS - so what does that tell us?

She's a Scottish bird (Wales and England, the ring goes on the right leg), but more importantly, she will be a young bird and therefore is probably not holding a nest and mate somewhere.

Blue rings were first used from around 2009 onwards from memory, so she can't be more than four years old. I'll email Roy in Scotland and find out.

Monty has gone fishing and is displaying, we can hear him - here we go again....

No indeed Birdsong, she seems to be really excited by him, calling and  looking up and around for him, and definitely seemed impressed by his sky dancing.   I can't see if the matings are successful though as by picture keeps freezing.  Hope he gets her a fish soon. :)

I feel sorry for poor Monty, he does all this hard work, nesting, fishing and sky dancing, and then they leave him!! It's like they've all heard he's an easy meal ticket, and ok for a bit of fun!! :-(

I really hope this Scottish bird is made of better stuff... !!
