Dyfi are going to have a nest mic this season : https://www.facebook.com/dyfiospreyproject?ref=ts&fref=ts
Thank you Tiger, I didn't realise this was captured on film; a volunteer at Bassenthwaite tells this story to the viewers and now I've seen it!!! and Richard Thaxton as well.
Clare Bailey said: That was fascinating, but heartbreaking, to watch. Someone commented on there that Henry's behaviour was unusual - is that true?

Well it is a sort of mixed up video. It is was made to highlight the fact that EJ laid a second clutch of eggs but that might not be entirely clear from the video. I there there have only been two second clutches of eggs since 1954 so that is rare.
As for kicking eggs out of the nest. Well Henry it twice. Blue XD didn't in 2001. Odin thought about it in 2012. Red 8T did the eggs to the edge of the nest in 2005 but he was only nest cupping at the time. EJ then rolled the eggs back into the nest and asked Red 8T to get her a fish which he refused to do. EJ eventually had to get a fish for herself.

I was taking a quick look at the cam and a bird suddenly landed on a perch. Excitement.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
OK, my current theory is that they'll show up when it's raining there. Clearly they aren't sure if they have the right place if it isn't raining!
After last year that's quite feasible, Janet!
Have been downloading the stream since quite early this morning, not a hint of a problem except no birds (should say "ospreys") arrived :-(
