Hi everyone. Happy Sunday! As usual, check out the last few entries of the previous week's chat to find out who left a plant at the supermarket checkout counter and ate a bag of chocolate donuts for lunch.
Brought Oro for home visit today; was lovely and sunny and daughter sat in the garden feeding him treats. He had a little snooze and then while my daughter took a nap Oro and I went to the beach and walked along the grassy area behind the sand for about a mile or so. (No trash cans to crash into!) Marvellous afternoon with brisk breeze and big surf, but now they're forecasting more rain for Monday through Wednesday!
I will try to put the link back on to the sighting of the ringed juvenile in S of France. The last time it corrupted the page and I had to delete it. I hope this works:

Geez. Have been trying to get on all morning but site never loaded. Now here I am and have to rush off to take Oro home. Back later. take care all.
Had trouble getting on the site today, myself Annette. When you do get access, its very v e r y s l o w..... Think it must be something to do with the event we're having here in UK, called "Big Garden Birdwatch" where lots of people, not just RSPB Members, are encouraged to log how many & what kinds of birds they have in their gardens, just for one hour this weekend. This gives RSPB a picture of bird numbers around the country as a whole. You can fill in a paper form, or go online for advice re identification &/or to fill in a survey.
Sunny here today, so sat in our conservatory after lunch with a cup of tea & tried to count birds: not as easy as it sounds. Tried not to give in to my instincts to shoo away all the greedy starlings on my fat balls; they are hungry as well after all.
As Margobird said yesterday, of course all the unusual & rare visitors stay away on this day, so I could only log some very ordinary birdies, but had lots & lots of those as I'd just filled up all my feeders.
Sunny & bright here in the N.West, but a cold, cold wind blowing so I wrapped myself up in lots of layers to go shopping: then, of course when I got into the supermarket, it was hot so I had to peel some of it off as I was going red in the face!
Went to see New Puppy this afternoon, so will have to edit about 20 dud pics from my camera before deciding which are good enough to post. She is gorgeous, all fuzzy & tail waggy.
Quiet on here tonight - went away & ate, then cleared up & came back again.
AQ: Absolutely loved that new word you have given us 'furphy' - its great!
Annette; Liked the description of the film about the Steinway pianos, sounds really interesting.
Tiger: Thanks for the YouTube video of the owls, they were lovely. Now you're talking, something we can use to remember all those dratted passwords. I have a now tatty piece of paper with all sorts of scrawls on it, which I really must transcribe into a notebook or something. Now where's that pen....
Saw the huge bright moon last night, but didnt know it was special so didn't gaze for long.
Cold night tonight & forecast freezing with low temps tomorrow. Hope no-one has the snow that was mentioned. Night All.
Hi everyone. It was a lovely sunny day here today. Although it was quite cold and I had to break the ice in the bird baths. I reckon I should get a clear crisp day for my BGBW count tomorrow.patriciat: I hope not too many birds decided to hide during your BGBW count.Brenda, Diane: Had a look at the full moon earlier when I was cleaning the bird table trays for tomorrow. Very bright and impressive.Tiger: Thanks for the link to the Starr Ranch Owls video. And thanks for the "Whoooo are you?" link.Margobird: Hope you get a good bird count tomorrow.A belated happy Saturday to everyone.Paul
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
AQ {and Diane) There was a company in Belfast (NI) which provided limos to hire and funeral services, which was called Furphy - the name of the owner, I think).
Oh Lindybird, looking forward to seeing puppy pics!
Afternoon all. Coolish breeze here with clouds but sunny. Showers possible Wednesday and Thursday. Oro happily napping in his area at daughter's house (she just called to update me!). Off to piano concert tonight sponsored by the University of California, Santa Barbara's Arts and Lectures program - Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin. WIll start new thread when I come home if someone hasn't already done it. Hope the big bird count caper was fun and productive, even if the really interesting birds went AWOL
