Hi All. Don't forget to check last page or so of previous week for all the latest! Granddaughter made excellent time to AZ - got there at 4 p.m. our time - an 8 hour ride with minimal (comparatively speaking) traffic through LA early this morning. Thunder received hysterical greeting from Pepito, tiny noisy companion who wondered where Thunder had gone but was much too noisy and excitable to bring along. Brought Oro home for successful visit after which I went on a hunt-and-scoop mission to clean up yard after two large dogs. Oh fun! Daughter and I watched Wallace and Gromit DVD (the "were-rabbit" one) - a hoot. OH and I just remembered we have tickets for Charlie Rose (PBS interviewer) this evening so have to hose myself down, prop open my eyelids and try to stay awake for another few hours. Why do these things start at 8 p.m.?!
Thanks Alan for reminder re Phoebe (keep reminding us since I'm so busy running and fetching); four big storms due this week with threat of flooding, high winds, power outages. Sounds like real weather!! TerryM: Will pass on gerbil story to hamster! Lindybird: All hankies put away now! :-) Congrats on the redecorating and dibnlib: I'm with you from now on - hire the folks who can do it in half the time (at four times the cost, yes, but....)
Off to comb hair and make self presentable. Have a nice Sunday all.
Caerann: I just knew it was something like that!!!
Hey, I think that this is truly a beautiful video. It made me smile big! Woodpecker babies!

Beautiful!
Diane I love the Woodpecker videos! I heard either a Downy or a Hairy Woodpecker calling in a neighbor's yard on Tuesday but couldn't locate the bird. The two birds are very similar and sometimes cross-breed. They both also will eat from a bird feeder, something I just learned about them. For anyone who is curious, here is what these handsome birds look like:

Golly Diane it's a good thing that John is still awake because I started giggling with delight over the baby Pilateds! Thanks for finding that, it's really marvelous!
I'm off now. Take care all and be well. =O)
I am glad you all like Oscar. If you want to read all about Oscar, Ethel and the chicks from 2009 it is all here. It was all loving recorded by a lovely lady from Halifax, Nova Scotia who claims to love Oscar!

Evening all (well, Diane and Caerann).
Diane: My God. What a day! Just awful, but I hate to say it sounded hilarious the way you described it - and I had to laugh. Sorry! :-))) Malfunctioning sewers, erupting water heaters, exploding carpet cleaners - you poor thing! I would've been guzzling the wine straight out of the bottle after a day like that. The worst thing (to me) would have been that all this was happening in cold wet January! Assume your laundry room carpet is still wet; yuk. Are you guys on a septic tank? My daughter had one of those when they lived in the desert and right before they moved out something went horribly strange and smelly with it (absentee landlord of course) and we had to walk on planks across it to get into the house. So much for rural living.
Caerann: Haven't had a chance to watch The Power of Art or much of anything these last few weeks - except the link to the woodpecker video (among others in passing). My, what persistent and demanding babiesthose critters are.
Lightning (the cat) succeeded in finding her way under the slipcover (not terribly fitted) on the couch this morning. I couldn't figure out where she'd gone; then noticed the cover was hanging oddly and found she'd snuggled up underneath it and behind a cushion in the corner of the couch where I usually flop down. Then sometime this evening we had a huge flash of lightning followed by a dramatic roll of thunder and she rushed under the couch and got stuck - we had to lift the couch to let her out. A little while after that I went into the living room and OH pointed to the couch where she'd once again crept under the cover. Was so funny - all we could see was this big lump that moved slightly as she breathed. She obviously figures she's onto a good thing.
Anyway, off to sleep - morning UK folks and AQ/Wattle, have a nice rest of the day, regardless of the time!
I have just discovered this. Should it be our official osprey drink?

HEATHER B You will know the place. It is the Clachnaharry Inn. chef/proprietor is Davey Aspen who left Rocpool Reserve to buy into the pub and he is head chef there of course He was head hunted for Rocpool by Adrian Pieraccini who knew what he was doing. They haven't advertised the new ownership at Clachnaharry as they are waiting till the renovations are complete but as said they want excellent well priced food to be their focus in future (don't know how italics happened) I had very good Stovies and Dave Sausages with wonderful onion gravy but there were much more exciting things on the menu. Let me know if you try it and what you think. We are Culloden by the way and really enjoy eating out although I enjoy cooking as well. Rocpool restaurant and Cafe 1 are our favourites
Oh Diane What a ghastly day you had. Any one of those disasters would have been enough to send me straight to the wine bottle! Hope it all settles down and you are able to get back to normal. How wise you were to keep your Dad from helping though I'm sure he really wanted to take some of the strain off you.
Annette Your cat sounds much like my sister's older Labrador, Cassie, who can manage to hide under the large throw on the couch when she gets nervous. In the garden she has dug a hole under a large conifer and hides there, Alan's new link to the Lily cam worked well, thank you. I think I caught her sleeping, too but will try again later.
Morning All. I just had to come on line and say how I admire Diane and how she coped with all those disasters. It was certainly more than one person should have happen in one night. Hope your back and burns are not too bad. They say everything happens in 'threes' .
Rain has reached here and I gather is to last for next 24 hours.
Tiger I am not a beer drinker but for all that are this should be the official drink for osprey lovers.
