Hi All. Don't forget to check last page or so of previous week for all the latest! Granddaughter made excellent time to AZ - got there at 4 p.m. our time - an 8 hour ride with minimal (comparatively speaking) traffic through LA early this morning. Thunder received hysterical greeting from Pepito, tiny noisy companion who wondered where Thunder had gone but was much too noisy and excitable to bring along. Brought Oro home for successful visit after which I went on a hunt-and-scoop mission to clean up yard after two large dogs. Oh fun! Daughter and I watched Wallace and Gromit DVD (the "were-rabbit" one) - a hoot. OH and I just remembered we have tickets for Charlie Rose (PBS interviewer) this evening so have to hose myself down, prop open my eyelids and try to stay awake for another few hours. Why do these things start at 8 p.m.?!
Thanks Alan for reminder re Phoebe (keep reminding us since I'm so busy running and fetching); four big storms due this week with threat of flooding, high winds, power outages. Sounds like real weather!! TerryM: Will pass on gerbil story to hamster! Lindybird: All hankies put away now! :-) Congrats on the redecorating and dibnlib: I'm with you from now on - hire the folks who can do it in half the time (at four times the cost, yes, but....)
Off to comb hair and make self presentable. Have a nice Sunday all.
Thanks for the link Alan t the higlights re Lily. She has such a lovely face and I just love the scratching.

Back to two collar doves today - I think the pair has been elsewhere and now back , and the one we have seen recently was a loner. Town pigeon was here at the same time and we were speculating on a group name for doves and pigeons (as in Corvids for crows etc). We came up with "Columbids" - can anyone enlighten us?
Just had phonecall to say boiler drip man is delayed but will be here today! Oh yeah? We'll see!
Dyno man still hasn't been - promised three times so far - latest excuse: electronic systems are down so they are having to use paper! I am sure the Egyptians coped better than this with papyrus, and they managed to build the pyramids!!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Afternoon everyone from TI,
This morning Lady P has gone to her sisters for the day so I have to man the fort along with Hamish. I have spent the last couple of hours shredding some secret documents and later I will be taking Hamish out for his walk.
It is dry but cloudy and cold. The bird bath was not frozen this morning so it must be slightly warmer than the south coast Margobird.
This is a link for owl fans. The narrative is in Japanese. Anyway see what you think.

JUst so much in a rush going out and there in the back garden on a birch tree a female sparrowhawk. So exciting! Of coutrse all my little birdies have flown off of hidden in the cotoneaster bush. Whata great start to a horrible dreich dull day!! Just had ro share!! OOhh Great!!
Everything in life is speaking in spite of its apparent silence.
Hello Tish
Well done on seeing the sparrowhawk in the garden. It was a dreich day here but now the sun is out.
Only 9 weeks approx. until the return of the ospreys.
Here is a screenshot of Dunedin ospreys nesting in Florida
Good capture Alan and as you say just 9 weeks to go. So looking forward to the return of the LG ospreys and the continuing story.
Tish I know how excited you must have been to see the female sparrowhawk. I have one that comes to my garden and sits on the bird bath. I get a perfect view of her from my kitchen window. As you say the small birds soon know she is there and hide themselves in a bush so she can't get to them.
Hi Tish - haven't seen you here for ages - hope all is well with you. Have you been hibernating??
Morning all: Had a problem getting on line so snuck in the back door. I can't get the Lily-cam - they redesigned the web page - even though I've emptied the cache and cookies. Looks like we'll get the southern end of the severe weather today with most of the storms sliding north over San Luis Obispo; still we'll see... Looks like it'll be dry Saturday through Monday.
Tish! So good to see you - and what a nice surprise to start the day.
OG: Hope the bucket didn't overflow when you slept through your shift - and that the boiler dude shows up! Oh dear, Dyno man having to use paper! Wonder what would happen if all our electronic cash registers went down - don't think anyone under 35 would know how to make change!
Alan: Shredding papers eh? No doubt classified IR records. Assume Hamish appreciates the need for confidentiality and won't spill the beans. Thanks for the FLA shot.
Heron: Hope you shake that bug and feel better soon.
Hallo Margobird and everyone else. Off to scout for breakfast. Back later.
