Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Aug 2012 - Sep 2014

This Topic has been set up to follow the Autumn 2012 migration and wintering of satellite tracked ospreys, other than Caledonia and Alba from Loch Garten, who are followed on this thread, Tracking Caledonia & Alba

This topic replaces Satellite Tracked Ospreys (non-LG) Mar-Aug 2012

N.B. There are still some missing details (and possibly birds) which I will add once the information becomes available.

  • Sue C - Thank you for the wonderful news about Morven!

Thank you Alan - For the sad news on Fiddich. I hope that is all the bad news for the rest of the season.

  • What sad news about Fiddich.  Alan thanks for posting.

  • Alan published an interesting map back in July showing where various ospreys have come to grief.

  • Thanks Tiger. No surprise there, then:-((

  • Such sad news about Fiddich.  I just hope Tim's contact can find out more.

  • As TIGER has pointed out many a time maybe BLUE YD is in the best area on the coast and FEARNA may be better keeping to the coast.

We have also to remember the lives these people inland live regardless of whether they take ospreys intentionally or not. Frederic pointed this out when he recovered Ceulan. In the same situation I probably would do the same as them.

These people are desperately poor. No clean water, no education for their children, no electricity, no cars, no nothing. They live in straw huts a few feet square and make out a living in one of the most inhospitable places imaginable. These are not commercial fisherman with profits to make. Their only goal is to survive and eat for that day.
